Prague is one of the original Central European destinations for sports tours. It is a bustling and brilliant city full of sports bars, clubs, and pubs along with beautiful castles. The city has something for every sports fan, whether you are into football, ice hockey, rugby, or cricket. Sports in Prague are among the liveliest in Europe.

Football

Football is one of the more popular sports in Prague. If you are after spectacle, we advise you to seek out European club competition, huge national team games, or some major local games. The domestic league offers great football at reasonable prices. Football season runs from late July or early August until June. Prague’s six biggest teams include Sparta Praha, Slavia Praha, Bohemians Praha, Bohemians 1905, Viktoria Žižkov, and Dukla Praha.

Ice hockey

Ice hockey is one of the most popular sports played in the Czech Republic, along with football. In fact, it is one of the best in the world. HC Slavia Praha and HC Sparta Praha, two of Prague’s professional teams are among the best in the country. But it is unfortunate that most of the country’s hockey superstars play in the North America’s National Hockey League.

Rugby

Rugby is another popular Prague sport. An informed person may describe it as a game that combines soccer, American football, and wrestling. It involves passing, grabbing, kicking, and tackling, with little body protection. Rugby is alive in the city, with 7 of the country’s 17 union teams based in the city. RC Praga Praha is out in Vysočany, RC Říčany plays in Říčany, while RC Sparta Praha is out in Prague 9 – Podvinný mlýn. RC Slavia Praha plays in Vršovice.

Cricket

Cricket has been a major Prague sport for decades. The Czech Cricket Union (CCU) Cup is held every year from May to July. The Prague Cricket Club was the 2008 CCU winner.
